Fight Results From Invasion 4 @La Sierra

December 5th, 2011

La Sierra Banquet Hall, was the venue for Cutthroat Invasion 4, on Friday night. Cutthroat was getting in the Holiday spirit by providing a Cutthroat Army t-shirt to all fans that donated a toy for the Toys for Tots program. There were 10 amateur fights on the card this evening.

In the main event it was Carlson Gracie's Sam Ferguson taking on the Archangels Andrew "Wild" West. West was coming off his TKO victory over John Finn at Bourbon St on November 18th. West landed a nice kick to the body of Ferguson early in the round. The two fighter clinched and it was Ferguson taking down West landing in side control. West was able to hold and control Ferguson doing a good job of avoiding any early damage. Ferguson managed to escape and advanced to mount and started to drop punches on West. West tried to remain active from the bottom but was unable to buck Ferguson from the dominant position. Ferguson continued to work from the top landing punches and after hearing the knocking to designate 10 seconds remaining in the round Ferguson quickly moved to secure the armbar winning with just 4 seconds left in the first round.  A very nice timely transition by Ferguson will also capture MoreMMA's submission of the night. In the post fight interview Ferguson commented that he is looking for a title shot in the future.

The fight of the night goes to lightweights Sinatra Poole and Patriot's Mario Lozano. It was Poole landing on top of Lozano after a takedown attempt. Poole would later take Lozano's back and proceeded to drop a barrage of punches. Most of the punches were avoided by Lozano, who did well to cover up. Referee Jay Estrada did a good job by letting the fight continue even though many punches were thrown by Poole. Lozano was able to reverse the bad position but quickly was reversed before he could mount any offense. Poole takes the first round.

In the second round, it was Lozano's turn to take the back of his opponent. Lozano unloaded punches as Poole attempted to cover up. It appeared that referee Jay Estrada was moving closer to stop the contest just as the knocking for the 10s seconds left sounded. Lozano rose to his feet thinking he had won the contest, however Estrada informed him that he didn't stop the fight and to continue. The bell rang concluding the bizarre ending of the second round but definitely a round for Lozano.

Lozano was able to get the takedown early in the third round but in doing so, he left his neck exposed and Poole was able to lock in the guillotine choke for the victory. A great competitive matchup between the two fighters.

Carlson Gracie's Tom Shoaf remains undefeated and takes home the knock out of the night with a devastating uppercut that floored Cody Smith. With Jeff Kohl also winning along with Shoaf and Ferguson, Carlson Gracie Team goes 3-0 on the night.

Cutthroat's next event will beLockdown in Lynwood held on December 17th, at the Ho-Chunk Sports and Expo Center and will feature Chuck Olena, Chad Fredricksen, Heavyweight Champion Eddie Castillo and Torres MMA undefeated Cutthroat Bantamweight Champion Jake Nauracy.
