H.I.T. Kickboxing's Martyn Jimenez Fights For the Cut Throat Welterweight Title at Invasion 3
September 28th, 2011
In less then two weeks Cut Throat will put 3 title belts on the line ( featherweight, lightweight, welterweight) and although all 6 of the fighters walking into the cage October 7th deserve to be champions, only 3 will walk out as champions. The welterweight title fight will feature Cut Throat Veteran Martyn Jimenez (8-2-2). Jimenez, a Northwestern Indiana native has competed in 3 different Cut Throat weight classes (lightweight, welterweight, and featherweight). Martyn fights out of H.I.T Kickboxing and Henson Jiu-Jitsu, and is excited about his opportunity to get back into cage and fight for a championship belt.
Martyn had an epic battle for the 145 featherweight title belt at Brawl at Bourbon St. Jimenez fought Adam Ward, and ended up on the losing end of that bout. Many Cut Throat Fans and MMA enthusiast believe that was the best Cut Throat fight of the year. For the past few year Jimenez has been plagued with injury and illnesses.
He was injured in a fight against the current Cut Throat lightweight champion Eric Rassmussen, and then when ready to make his return, Jimenez had to have his gall bladder removed. Martyn is now set to face Carlson Gracie's Danny Morales, (8-2-0) for the Cut Throat welterweight title. An interesting facts about Jimenez is that he actually drew with 155 Champion Eric Rassmusen and Yusup Saaduliev. Jimenez also placed second in the absolute division during the Cutthroat Challengers Cup. He faced Bellator champion Pat Curran in the finals. Jimenez is the real deal and Cut Throat has been waiting patiently for him to get back into competition. We have seen Jimenez stand and bang and grapple with the best, and he is always pushing the pace. On October 7th at Invasion 3, Cut Throat fans will get to see Martyn Jimenez and Danny Morales battle it out for sole ownership of the Cut Throat welterweight title belt.
